Nick Jenkins is Professor of Renewable Energy at Cardiff University. Before moving to academia in 1992, his career included 14 years of industrial experience, 5 years of which were spent in developing countries. In his current position, he has developed teaching and research activities in electrical power engineering and renewable energy. He is a Distinguished Member of the International Council on Large Electric Systems (CIGRE), and a Fellow of the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), the Royal Academy of Engineering, and the Learned Society of Wales.
