Norbert A’Campo earned his doctorate in 1972 from the University of Paris-Sud. He was a Professor of Mathematics in Paris (1974–1982) and in Basel (1982–2011) and was an invited speaker at the International Congress of Mathematicians in 1974. In 1988 he was elected president of the Swiss Mathematical Society and in 2012 he became a fellow of the American Mathematical Society. His research focuses on singularity theory.
